Dorothy Meness

On January 27th, 2024, Dorothy Meness passed away at the age of 89.
Born October 30th, 1934, in Kitigan Zibi, she was one of thirteen children of the late Teresa Meness (née Tenasco) and the late Frank Meness. Her siblings included Anne, Juliette (Leroy), Frank, Frieman (Sherri), and Stanley.
She was a loving mother to Teresa, Anthony (Carrie), Ma... On January 27th, 2024, Dorothy Meness passed away at the age of 89.

She was a loving mother to Teresa, Anthony (Carrie), Marie, Mark, Clayton, and Cynthia (Jerauld), and a guiding light to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A member of the Eagle clan, she followed in her parents’ footsteps by maintaining cultural traditions and becoming a source of wisdom for family and community.
She was a lifelong learner, graduating with her master’s at the age of 78, where she was the first indigenous student to walk the stage wearing regalia. She was a warm and kind woman, who welcomed all she met. She will be dearly missed by her family and community.

Dorothy will be waked from January 29th, 2024, 7pm to Wednesday January 31st, 2024, 11am, at the Kitigan Zibi Funeral Home. The service will be held at 11am January 31st, 2024, at 11am and the interment will follow at the Kitigan Zibi Cemetery.
